COSTA MESA, CA. (January 26, 2018) – NAIOP SoCal, the leading organization for developers, owners and investors of office, industrial, retail and mixed-use real estate, and the Center for Real Estate at UC Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business have awarded Camielle Compton Chou, senior management analyst, Santa Ana Homeownership Center (SAHOC), the prestigious NAIOP SoCal-CRE Fellowship.
The fellowship provides a combined learning experience to develop and prepare future real estate industry leaders. Awardees can enhance their formal education through a $7,500 financial award as well as attend NAIOP SoCal board meetings as a guest board member. Chou will apply the award to her studies at the Merage School where she is enrolled in the Fully Employed MBA (FEMBA) program and is pursuing the Center for Real Estate’s MBA Certificate in Real Estate.
“I am grateful for this opportunity to pair classroom learning with real-world interactions. I expect that my real estate knowledge base will both broaden and deepen through this experience,” Chou shared.
As senior management analyst with SAHOC, Chou manages labor and employment relations for SAHOC. SAHOC is one of the four U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) homeownership centers. The center insures FHA mortgages, assures the quality of said mortgages, and supervises the sale of HUD properties.
Prior to her current position, Chou was a management and program analyst for the US Patent and Trademark Office and the Department of Homeland Security. She also served as a presidential management fellow for the National Institute of Food and Agriculture and the National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration. Chou received her bachelor’s degree from College of William & Mary and her master’s in public affairs from University of Texas, Austin.

As of December 31, 2017, the Center for Real Estate and NAIOP SoCal have partnered to award $67,500 in scholarships to deserving industry leadership candidates, helping to launch a number of very successful careers.
