NAIOP SoCal Announces Recipient of 2019-2020 NAIOP-CRE Fellowship

Costa Mesa, CA (January 21, 2020) — NAIOP SoCal, the Southern California chapter of NAIOP, the leading organization for developers, owners and investors of office, industrial, retail and mixed-use real estate, and the Center for Real Estate at UC Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business have awarded the prestigious 2019-2020 NAIOP SoCal-CRE Fellowship to Charlie Jackson, Director of Land Acquisition for California Pacific Homes. The fellowship provides a combined learning experience to develop and prepare future real estate industry leaders along with a $7,500 financial award.

As Director of Land Acquisition for California Pacific Homes, Jackson oversees the acquisition of residential development projects throughout Southern California. He has been part of California Pacific Homes since 2015, and will apply the award to his studies at the Merage School where he is enrolled in the Fully Employed MBA (FEMBA) program and is pursuing the Center for Real Estate’s MBA Certificate in Real Estate.

“My goal over the course of the UCI FEMBA program is to learn and develop in the classroom while still advancing my career. I hope that my experience in real estate development combined with an MBA from UCI will allow me to accelerate my personal career path and help me reach my ultimate goal, of owning a real estate development business,” said Jackson, who received his bachelor’s degree from University of Oregon.

Parke Miller, NAIOP SoCal Board Director and Community Service Chair, noted, “NAIOP SoCal is proud to support the UCI Center for Real Estate and share the common goal of selecting the best and brightest candidates who are interested in pursuing and excelling at a career in commercial real estate.”

In addition to the financial award, the recipient will have the opportunity to attend NAIOP SoCal board meetings and network with an eclectic mix of key executives in Southern California commercial real estate.

As of January 2020, the Center for Real Estate and NAIOP SoCal have partnered to award a total to date of $78,750 in scholarships to deserving industry leadership candidates, helping to launch a number of very successful careers.

“NAIOP SoCal is a valuable educational partner that continues to make a positive impact on the development of the young leaders and students in our burgeoning real estate program.  We are very grateful for their support of various Center areas from recruiting to innovative and educational programming for the industry,” said Sharon Nakamura-Brown, managing director for the Center for Real Estate.
