Applications are now due for the next YPG SoCal class of 2020-21. We now count 474 alumni. It is so rewarding to be part of this organization and to witness its wide-ranging influence on the Southern California commercial real estate community and the individuals who have been part of it.
Talk about impact. Consider that the incoming 2020 NAIOP SoCal Board of Directors will include 14 members who have gone through YPG with three from the inaugural 2005-2006 class. Of the first YPG class, approximately nine are presidents / founders of their own firm or C-suite executives at major Southern California-based organizations – and that is the result of just one class. In this e-news we share comments from a few alums who have started their own firms, noting how YPG helped them in their pursuits.
Stay tuned as we share more on our 15th anniversary throughout 2020.
Another significant impact of YPG is its emphasis on giving back. I want to congratulate the current Community Outreach Chair Naomi Rizkowsky and her subcommittee’s work to engage in some new outreach this past year. Not only did we host Big for a Day with Big Brothers Big Sisters at Knott’s Berry Farm in October with a great turnout of 29 Littles and 25 Bigs, but they also pulled together two beach cleanups in November, one in LA and one in OC, with 33 attendees total. It just proves how impactful we can be in so many ways – professionally and personally.
Let me also congratulate this year’s Y-Games Chair Karen Okerlund. The 2019 competition featured 10 teams battling in their “Video Games” apparel. Not only is Y-Games entertaining, it is one more way YPG strives to give back to the community as participants donated a wide variety of clothing and accessories to Working Wardrobes to support the men, women, veterans and young adults that are on their way to self-sufficiency. Thank you to everyone who came out for the day.
More information will be out soon on the 2020 Kick Off event and the much-anticipated Leadership Summit to be held March 19, 2020. Details and much more will be out early next year.
Thank you all for a great 2019. Happy Holidays the best to you in 2020!
