On October 25 the California Business Properties Association (CBPA) celebrated leaders from the commercial real estate industry. James Camp, senior vice president and regional development officer of Rockefeller Group, West Region and NAIOP SoCal president, received the Champion of the Industry Award. Along with Camp, CBPA also named David Sisson, senior vice president of Best Buy Co. Inc and Greg McWilliams, chief policy officer of FivePoint, as Champions of the Industry.
Upon receiving the award Camp urged the audience to go to Sacramento to see how hard CBPA works noting that they are the ones who save our industry.
Along with the Champion of the Industry Awards, CBPA awarded Blackstone with the John Caldecott Award for Community Service for its partnership with USC, UCLA and UCI to foster entrepreneurship as a viable career option. Additionally Blackstone has awarded $8 million in grants to innovative non-profit organizations that spread the ideals of entrepreneurship and benefit local communities.
Tom Magnussen of Paragon Services Janitorial and President of the San Diego Building Owners & Managers Association received the Ray Magnussen Award for Industry Advancement recognizing his work to mentor emerging CRE leaders.
Jason Jamison, SIOR and president, CEO of GM Properties was honored with the Ernest W. Hahn Award for Legislative Affairs for his tireless work to defeat AB 1059, the dual agency ban.
