USC vs UCLA Real Estate Challenge

11/15/2012
05:30 PM - 09:00 PM

Now in its 15th year, the annual USC vs UCLA Real Estate Challenge is set for November 15, 2012 at Covel Commons on the UCLA campus.

BIG NEWS:  It’s a tie-breaker year with UCLA at 7 wins vs. USC at 7 wins.

Make plans now to support this important industry event that benefits the chapter, the community and two great real estate programs.  Each year, top graduate student teams from Ziman Center at UCLA’s Anderson School of Business and the Lusk Center at USC’s Marshall School of Business and School of Policy, Planning & Development go head to head in one of Southern California’s most exciting real estate competitions.

If you’ve wondered how incredibly valuable this experience is to the student teams that compete each year, take a look at what they have to say:

There’s not a better way for students to develop lasting connections with top-level industry leaders and at the same time gain profound insight to complex, real-world real estate challenges—all in a format that promotes camaraderie, competition and school spirit.  It is the essence of what you hope to get out of graduate school.  Some of those who helped with the Challenge have become mentors and some of my mentors are becoming business partners.
Ben Jensen, USC, 2010

The greatest advantage was the practical exposure to on-the-ground market research and pitching a viable development deal suited to current market conditions.  But plenty can also be said about the willingness of the SoCal Real Estate community to help throughout the process, and the access to top industry leaders.  I made dozens of new contacts from every sector of the industry and plan to maintain those relationships as I continue my career.
Blake Thomas, UCLA, 2012
